Het project in het kort door Stichting FIME
The Foundation for Ethiopian Information and Documentation in the Netherlands, FEIDIN, is established legally on the 2nd November
1995, by a group of Ethiopian Journalists, in exile here in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
FEIDINs main objectives are: to gather news and information about Ethiopia, a.o. cultural, economic, social, political en developmen
t activities and needs; to disseminate these same news and information via the mass media to target and general audiences.
The main tasks of FEIDIN are: broadcasting in Amsterdam and surroundings, every week one hour in Amharic and English; publishing
brochures, magazines etc.; organising seminars, workshops etc.; documentation.
The project is named THREE-in-ONE Anniversary, that means anniversary of: ETHIO TV Amsterdam 5th year; Ethiopian Free Press
Journalists Association 11th year; World Press Day 2004. The main goal of the anniversary is to deepen the understanding and
appreciation of the three mutually related events by the public.
The activity will be the organisation of one media day together with cultural activities such as an Ethiopian dinner, Ethiopian
Coffee Ceremony and Ethiopian music.
The main discussion items on the day are: remarks on the experience of freedom of Expression in Ethiopia; Can a creative writer be
a good journalist; The significance of World Press Day, from the perspective of a Dutch writer (Chris Keulemans).
Co-organiser of the Day is the Ethiopian Free Press Journalists Association International Committee (EFJA-IC). FEIDIN participates
in the meetings Novib is organising for Ethiopian organisations in The Netherlands.
